• Guests arriving on flights or trains within approximately two hours of each other may be transferred together, so some waiting time may be required.

• After breakfast, board the high-speed train for Jiuzhaigou, enjoying views of the dramatic landscapes and distinctive ethnic architecture of Aba Prefecture along the way.

• Upon arrival, visit Songpan Ancient City, a historic settlement dating from the Ming Dynasty. Once an important military stronghold in north-western Sichuan, Songpan also served as a key trading post along the historic Tea Horse trade routes connecting Tibetan, Qiang, Hui and Han communities.

• See the statues of Princess Wencheng and Songtsen Gampo and discover the town's fascinating multicultural heritage.

• The combination of lakes, waterfalls, mountains and pristine forests creates one of China's most extraordinary natural landscapes.

• After dinner, enjoy a traditional Tibetan family visit and experience another side of the region's local culture.

• After breakfast, travel by high-speed rail towards Chengdu, enjoying more of Aba Prefecture's magnificent mountain scenery along the journey.

• Continue to Dujiangyan Panda Park, a specialist conservation and research centre established to support the protection and breeding of endangered giant pandas and other rare wildlife.

• Enjoy time watching China's much-loved giant pandas before continuing to Yangtianwo Square, where you can photograph Dujiangyan's famous giant panda sculpture — a giant panda lying on its back and appearing to take a selfie.

• Begin the day at Guanxian Ancient City, a charming historical town closely connected with Dujiangyan's thousand-year-old irrigation heritage.

• Continue to Leshan for a panoramic boat journey past the Leshan Giant Buddha.

• Construction of this extraordinary cliff-side statue began in 713 AD during the Tang Dynasty and took more than 90 years to complete. Today, the Leshan Giant Buddha is one of China's most famous cultural landmarks and one of the world's largest monumental stone Buddha sculptures.

• Afterwards, travel to Mount Emei, one of China's renowned Buddhist sacred mountains.

If boat operations at Leshan are suspended or restricted, the cruise will be replaced with a land-based visit to the Leshan Giant Buddha.

• After breakfast, visit Baoguo Temple and Fuhu Temple, two important sites representing Mount Emei's long Buddhist heritage.

• Return towards Chengdu and visit the Intangible Cultural Heritage Expo Park, where you can discover elements of traditional Chengdu culture.

• Later, explore Kuanzhai Alley, one of Chengdu's most popular historic neighbourhoods. Traditional Ming- and Qing-style architecture, teahouses, restaurants and local craft shops sit alongside contemporary cafés and boutiques.

• Enjoy time to stroll through its stone-paved lanes, sample local snacks or simply soak up the relaxed atmosphere for which Chengdu is famous.

• After breakfast, enjoy your final morning in Chengdu before transferring to Chengdu Airport or high-speed rail station.
